Job Description:
- Accounting, Close & Reporting
- Lead general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and oversight of AP/AR processes.
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close; deliver accurate financial statements, supporting schedules, and variance analyses.
- Prepare and manage the monthly reporting package and submit required reporting to the Parent Company on time.
- Payroll & Compliance
- Own weekly/bi-monthly payroll processing for full-time and part-time employees; ensure accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality.
- Manage timecard submission/approval process and payroll reporting requirements each pay period.
- Ensure payroll tax compliance and filings (Federal/State/Local) including, as applicable: 941, W-2, FUTA, SUTA; respond to payroll notices/inquiries.
- Prepare/review payroll journal entries, reconcile payroll-related accounts, research bank items (e.g., direct deposit returns), and resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Audit and reconcile benefits invoices and payroll deductions; support 401(k) and audit-related payroll schedules.
- Assist with workers’ compensation audits and related reconciliations; respond to employee payroll questions in a timely manner.
- ERP / Systems & Process Improvement
- Utilize and support accounting/ERP systems to ensure accurate financial reporting and efficient workflows, including Restaurant365 (R365), Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains), and related tools.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Operations/HR/IT) to improve system processes and integrations (e.g., POS, payroll, AP workflows), strengthen data accuracy, and support reporting needs. Controls, J-SOX & Audit
- Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR); support J-SOX documentation, walkthroughs, evidence collection, testing support, and remediation tracking.
- Coordinate with external auditors/internal audit; provide schedules, documentation, and explanations to support smooth audits.
- Tax, Cash & Insurance
- Manage corporate income tax compliance in coordination with the external CPA firm (return deliverables, provision support as needed, responses to notices).
- Support cash management activities (budgeting, forecasting, banking relationships, liquidity planning).
- Administer general liability and property insurance processes including renewals, COIs, and claims support.
Job Requirements:
- 5+ years of accounting/finance experience (restaurant/hospitality preferred) and 2+ years of hands-on payroll experience
- Multi-state payroll experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, fringe benefit taxation, and wage & hour/labor law fundamentals.
- Experience with payroll systems (ADP Workforce Now a plus) and strong Excel skills (MS Office proficiency required).
- ERP/accounting system proficiency required, including Restaurant365 (R365) and/or Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains); experience with similar ERPs and reporting tools a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; able to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- US GAAP knowledge and internal controls (ICFR) experience; J-SOX support experience preferred.
- Multi-entity / multi-location experience
- CPA preferred but not required.
- Ability to work flexible hours (including occasional weekends) during payroll cycles, close, or audit deadlines.
