Job Description:
- Oversee employee onboarding and offboarding processes
Manage HR operations including: - Payroll coordination
- Benefits administration
- PTO and leave management
- Ensure compliance with federal and California employment laws
- Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and managers
- Handle employee relations matters, including:
- Performance improvement processes
- Disciplinary actions
- Termination preparation and documentation
- Exercise independent judgment on routine HR and disciplinary matters, while escalating material or high-risk cases to executive leadership and the board
- Coordinate investigations and external counsel support when necessary
- Maintain HR records and internal documentation
- Support HR reporting, audits, and internal controls
- Act as a bridge between U.S. operations and Japan HQ
- Other duties as required
Job Requirement:
- 5–8 years of HR operations experience
- Strong knowledge of California employment regulations
Multi-location, hospitality, or retail experience preferred - Business-level English required
- Japanese language proficiency preferred
- SHRM-CP / PHR certification is a plus
