Duties:
HR
- Managing employee recruitment, onboarding procedures, orientations, and integration processes
- Maintaining HR records, including attendance, leave, and employee data
- Addressing employee inquiries, questions, and complaints
- Collaborating with management to handle employee matters and resolve workplace issues
- Explaining work rules, company policies, and HR procedures to employees
- Facilitating employee training, professional development, and retention initiatives
- Supporting management with HR processes such as performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and attendance management
- Preparing and managing HR-related reports and documentation
- Ensuring the confidentiality of HR information
- Promoting a workplace environment that is inclusive and supportive for employees from diverse cultural backgrounds
Safety
- Implementation and improvement of occupational health and safety programs at manufacturing sites
- Conducting regular site walkthroughs, safety inspections, and risk assessments
- Delivering safety education to employees, including onboarding and periodic training
- Investigating and documenting workplace accidents, near-miss incidents, and safety issues
- Analyzing accident causes and formulating/implementing measures to prevent recurrence
- Managing safety rules regarding machinery, protective equipment, chemicals, cleaning operations, etc.
- Verifying the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Managing emergency response procedures, evacuation plans, and disaster drills
- Facilitating safety committee operations and preparing meeting materials and records
- Collaborating with management, production and quality control departments, and external organizations
- Ensuring compliance with applicable occupational health and safety laws and internal standards
- Engaging in continuous improvement activities to raise safety awareness and embed a safety culture
Requirements:
- Practical experience in Human Resources or occupational health and safety
- Must be experienced in the food manufacturing industry.
- Work experience in food manufacturing or other manufacturing environments
- Communication skills to build positive relationships with employees and management in Japanese and English
- Ability to investigate and address workplace accidents and issues fairly and prudently
- Strong problem-solving and situational judgment skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks based on priority
- Ability to appropriately handle confidential information, such as HR records and accident reports
- Ability to clearly explain safety rules and company policies to employees
- Basic PC skills (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Ability to conduct regular floor walks and communicate directly with production staff
- Commitment to teamwork and ability to collaborate effectively with other departments
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and respect for employees
Preferences:
- Practical experience in HR and occupational health and safety within the food manufacturing industry
- Experience conducting workplace accident investigations, implementing recurrence prevention measures, or performing safety audits in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, food safety, or quality control
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations applicable to the work location (e.g., OSHA)
- Experience with procedures related to workplace accidents, such as Workers’ Compensation
- Experience managing safety committees or conducting safety training programs
- Experience using HR, time and attendance, or safety management systems
- Experience working in multilingual or multicultural environments
- Degree or certification in HR, occupational health and safety, business administration, or a related field
- Certifications in CPR, First Aid, occupational safety, or food safety
