The Technical Product Specialist provides technical support for fiber optic connectivity and cable management products used primarily in data center applications. These products include single-fiber and multi-fiber optical connectors, fiber optic cables, fiber distribution cabinets and enclosures, panels, and related fiber optic connectivity components.
This position focuses on product performance evaluation, failure analysis, root cause investigation, and product improvement, as well as technical communication with customers regarding product performance, defects, corrective actions, and improvements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Failure Analysis and Performance Evaluation
- Conduct failure analysis and performance evaluation of fiber optic connectivity products and components.
- Perform optical, mechanical, and dimensional measurements using measurement instruments and microscopes.
- Analyze test results and identify failure modes and potential root causes.
- Prepare technical reports summarizing findings, root causes, and recommended corrective actions.
2. Product Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve product design, performance, reliability, and quality.
- Support design modifications, prototype development, and product evaluation.
- Conduct performance evaluations of prototypes and modified products.
- Work with Design, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
3. Customer Technical Support
- Provide technical explanations to customers regarding product design, specifications, performance, and application.
- Explain product defects, root causes, corrective actions, and improvements.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for customer discussions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
- Hands-on experience using measurement instruments, microscopes, or engineering test equipment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Ability to analyze technical data and prepare clear engineering reports.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
