Job Description
- Processes and maintains sensitive employee information, such as salaries, bank account details, and tax information.
- Manages time and attendance and payroll processing, data analysis, compliance, report-writing, and year-end and year-begin processes
- Reviews and resolves errors and questions.
- Provides end-user training, technical support, and communicates changes and deadlines.
- Reconciles payroll sub-ledger to the general ledger, remits payroll taxes or partners with vendor for quarterly tax payment and government reporting
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll statements
- Provides internal expertise on employee benefit plans, assists employees with benefit questions/problems, acts as liaison between brokers, carriers, and employees.
- Reviews and assists with reconciliations for employee benefit billings, including: medical, dental, life/LTD, L&I, employment security, WA State Paid Family Leave, FMLA, 401(k), ESPP, etc.
- Contributes to new employee onboarding and employee termination as it relates to payroll and benefits administration
- Researches market pricing and provides analysis on an annual basis and as needed to ensure competitiveness. Assists in the development and maintenance of position descriptions and salary structure (i.e.: grades/bands).
- Oversees and analyzes corporate benefits programs.
- Responsible for the coordination and implementation process of annual renewal and open enrollment.
- Ensures timely enrollment and deletion of employee/dependents on the plans.
- Makes appropriate payroll deductions for employees’ shares of premiums. In depth knowledge of COBRA and partners with carrier to ensure timely delivery of notifications.
- Resolves discrepancies with payroll and information and/or documentation (e.g., payroll, benefit provider/s, withholding versus W4, step status, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy of records and employee payments
- Assists with oversight of retirement, equity, and incentive plans
- Remains well-informed of state and federal laws and regulations that relate to payroll practices and compliance, fair employment practices and general human resource administration. Assures internal practices are in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- With oversight, develops, compiles, and maintains the annual compensation and benefits budget in conjunction with Human Resources and Accounting.
- Prepares individualized compensation and benefit statements and educates management and staff of Commencement’s competitive benefit offerings
- Oversees leave of absence compliance and timely disclosure, employee disability insurance paperwork, workers compensation claims and garnishment processing
- Assists as needed with HR generalist duties to include employee relations, performance management,communications, compensation and benefits, policy interpretation, legal compliance, and other duties as assigned
- Assists with audits and/or exams as needed
- Assists with special projects assigned by the Human Resources Manager and/or Chief Financial Officer
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education andexperience.

5+ years’ experience in payroll processing and benefits administration

Proficiency with ADP WFN is Required

Familiarity with multistate payroll and payroll tax is Required
